Embracing the new

Of a Planet we care
Our only place
We back away
From our endless chase
Live and let live
Words from the past
From those who new
These lifestyles can't last
So join the new

Don't tell me no
Or what place to go
Or who I should friend
Or what I should send
You go your way
Deciding what to say
Arranging you play
To play out your day
Don't tell me how
Or what field to plow
Or what things to plant
Self enjoying your rant
When you have done it
And the shoes fit
Then I will hear you
Your words will ring true

They warn of events to come
Eventuality a must to be
No serenity for them
Their prediction a must see
Leave me out
Of this game they play
This game for attention
Happenings that they say
The Future is unknown
And events unseen
Change happens quickly
Being caught inbetween
I prefer an unfolding
A freshness of view
Not of prediction
But trust in the new

Poem ... Loosen My Load
I walk this country road
As so many times in the past
Your face on my mind
Hoping we could last
You had places to go
And people to see
Your head in the clouds
Beyond ole country me
But as I walk I know for sure
The city ain't for me
I wish I could have followed
The two of us to be
But as I said before
I wish the best for you
Maybe in some future time
Being together we may pursue
But for now
I walk this country road
Looking at the clouds
Trying to loosen my load
