There were cars
Clogging city street
Vacant buildings now
Silence the new beat
There were highways
Traveling far
Covered in weeds now
Occasional rusted car
There were planes
Thunder passing by
No more white streaks
Our writings in the sky
There were lovers
Finger tips to touch
Whispers turned to silence
Arms no longer clutch
There were deep green forests
Enriching moistened air
Now just dusty soils
No life we are aware
There were clouds and storms
Bringing life into the Day
But we have changed all that
Since we had our way
