We are a wave of Life
Just passing through
Some with many years
Other only a few
Do we pass on what we know
The lessons we learned
Or is our time only a show
The wave continues on
With those who heed
With those that care
For those in need
Our destiny is naught written in a star
It is written in our passion
To push our wisdom far

Our time was short
Building our empire
Racing ahead alone
We called it success
We called it progress
When what it was
Looking back
Was eras of distress
We can't go again
Another Era of sin
We can't save what is gone
Or seek how to atone
Or understand the term "When?"

What is there to say
Things changing day to day
Protest this
Prohibit that
We have lost our way
Who is charting our path
Leading us to an unknown bath
How do we know
Which way to go
To avoid the coming wrath

Occasional stray cat or dog
People hiding out in smog
Attached to a smartphone
The Virus now widespread
Hospitals are notread
When will It end
Is it Earth in mend
Or last dream in one's head

There will come a time
When Earth spins no more
When our bones are our story
Of the fabric of life we tore
Did it really matter
Those species we pushed to extinct
All were going there anyway
Gone as we blindly blinked
Silence will occupy our space
Dust gathering on our bones

As they turn to stones.
So what was the reason
For life here and gone

In despair
Says the tree
Oxygen in the air
I give to thee
I spread my leaves
To face the sun ray
To separate oxygen from H2O
So animal life can play
Please don't cut me down
To make your light poles
And thousands of other things
As you play your desperate roles
Our time will come
We will again cover Earth in green
And you humans are here no more

There are days of bright blues
And there are days of darkened grays
Of streaks of white playing among trees
Of mottled Seagulls over rough seas
But whatever this day brings
And surely it will be
The beauty of it all
Is there for us to see.

But diming does not cease
